What is the Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner?

The Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner is an annual dinner fundraiser to raise money to help pay for operations for the county party, which typically take place in February. February is the birth month of both President Abraham Lincoln and President Ronald Reagan.

Some county parties title their annual dinner fundraiser with both president’s names. Other county parties only call their event “Lincoln Day Dinner” or ‘Reagan Day Dinner”. The Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinners take months or even a year in advance to plan by the county party leadership.

How To Promote Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner
BEFORE THE EVENT
I recommend posting a “Save the Date” with details to follow of your county party’s dinner at least two months in advance on your platforms. Once you are ready to share the keynote speaker(s), share the official invitation. Your county party should decide if you want to share your official invitation on your social media, your newsletter, or both.

As the date gets closer, remind people to purchase tickets. If you promote your dinner on your newsletter, your subject line can say for example “10 Days Left to Purchase Tickets!”. Be sure to notify everyone on your platform(s) once tickets are sold out.

DURING THE EVENT

If you hired a professional photographer, make sure they are all set. If you do not have a professional photographer, assign a volunteer to take pictures during the program. Capture pictures of the keynote speaker(s), county party leadership, elected officials, political candidates, volunteers, etc. If your party is distributing awards, take pictures of the award recipients.

AFTER THE EVENT

Post pictures as soon as possible on your social media and newsletters. Again, if you hired a professional photographer, be sure to coordinate with them on when pictures will be ready to view and share. Your social media caption should include thanking everyone for attending your successful dinner. Repost any pictures attendees may tag your county party in on social media too.

Promoting your event involves inviting people and sharing pictures of your fundraiser, this is critical because it shows your county party is active and donors will take your fundraiser seriously. They will appreciate seeing your hard work promoting your annual fundraiser either on your newsletter or your social media.
