April is a dynamic month filled with opportunities for meaningful content. From military recognition days honoring our service members to key municipal early voting dates that shape our communities, there’s plenty to highlight. This month also brings significant holy days in Christianity and Judaism, offering moments for reflection and celebration. Additionally, advocacy days focused on health and environmental protection provide a platform to engage audiences in vital conversations. With such a diverse range of observances, April presents a rich landscape for content planning that informs, inspires, and connects with your audience.
Month-long theme:
National Volunteer Month-recognize volunteers who help at your county party headquarters and/or volunteers who have helped your 2025 municipal campaign. You can do individual spotlights of your superstar volunteers or share a group image of your volunteers on social media.
Week-long themes
Week 3: Early Voting begins for Municipal races.
Notable Dates
April 3rd, 2025-Voter Registration Deadline for Municipal Elections (TX)
Thursday, April 3rd, is the last day to register to vote if you plan on making your voice heard in the local elections. This is a good time to remind people about early voting dates.
April 5th-Gold Star Spouses Day
Gold Star Spouses Day is observed annually on April 5th to honor spouses who lost their military spouse in the line of duty or because of their military service. This is a solemn day so be sure to share a graphic with black, gold, or dark purple text. Your constituents will feel acknowledged and appreciate your efforts sharing on social media.
April 7th-World Health Day
Discuss healthcare policies, candidates' and/or elected official’s stances on healthcare reform. You could discuss pro-life laws that protect the unborn or share laws that prevent transgender surgeries. Another idea is to discuss the Democrat’s disastrous “universal healthcare” proposals that would skyrocket U.S. tax dollars.
April 12th-20th-Passover
Passover, also called Pesach, is a major Jewish holiday and one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals. It celebrates the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Passover 2025 begins the evening of April 12th thru the 20th. Share a Passover graphic and wish your Jewish constituents a blessed Passover. Note: Passover dates change yearly.
April 13th-Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday, the holy Sunday before Easter Sunday, commemorates Jesus’ triumphant walk into Jerusalem. Share a graphic with palm branches and a Bible verse. Note: Palm Sunday date change yearly.
April 14th-Founding of U.S. Air Force Reserve
On this day in 1948, the United States Air Force Reserve was established. The Air Force Reserve describes their duties as follows; “Reservists serve as a backfill support on contingencies and deployments throughout the Air Force, Department of Defense and other government agencies.” You can share a brief history of the U.S. Air Force’s founding and a free image of the Air Force Reserve.
April 15th-Tax Day
"How Your Tax Dollars Are Spent: A Breakdown 🏛️💰". Explain how the state legislature or U.S. Congress spend your tax dollars. You could highlight bills proposed by state or U.S. lawmakers who are working to reduce your taxes.
April 18th-Good Friday
Good Friday, two days before Easter, is the observance of Jesus being crucified and dying on the cross. Visit Bible Study Tools to find a Good Friday Bible verse to share on social media.
April 20th-Easter
Easter, the holiest day in Christianity, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ ascending into heaven. Captions you can use are “Happy Easter!” “He is Risen!”, or both. Share a Bible verse with a graphic of the cross or the empty tomb. Note: Easter Sunday date change yearly.
April 21st-San Jacinto Day
San Jacinto Day, observed on April 21st, commemorates the decisive Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, which secured Texas' independence from Mexico. You can share images of the San Jacinto monument in La Porte, Texas on social media.
April 22nd-First Day of Early Voting
Municipal elections will take place in Dallas County. Early voting begins on Tuesday, April 22nd. If you are running for local office, please promote this event at least three weeks in advance and repost frequently on social media to remind your voters to get to the polls!
April 22nd-Earth Day
Earth Day commemorates support for environmental protection for our planet. I suggest using President Ronald Reagan’s remarks on Earth Day: “If we’ve learned any lessons during the past few decades, perhaps the most important is that preservation of our environment is not a partisan challenge; it’s common sense. Our physical health, our social happiness; and our economic well-being will be sustained only by all of us working in partnership as thoughtful, effective stewards of our natural resources.”
April 29th-Last day of Early Voting
Local municipal candidates, urge your voters to skip the lines and vote early! April 29th is the final day of Early Voting for municipal elections.
