Attending numerous local political events over the years has shown me how these GOP organizations unite active voters, political candidates, and elected officials. These gatherings offer unique opportunities to connect, volunteer, and gain insights into the state and local political scene. Whether legislators are recapping a busy session or candidates are preparing for an election, these events ignite enthusiasm and sustain interest in grassroots politics.
When two or more local organizations co-host an event, it strengthens the grassroots movement by bringing together more people, which is what took place last week at El Norte Grill in Plano, Texas. Plano Republican Women and Collin County Young Republicans hosted an annual margarita social.

About Plano Republican Women
The Plano Republican Women's Club (now "Plano Republican Women") was founded on July 17, 1962, at a time when Collin County had no Republican elected officials or women's clubs. For over six decades, the organization has been instrumental in building the Republican Party and securing the Republican majority seen in Collin County today. Celebrating its 60th Anniversary in July 2022, the club remains a vibrant and active force, with its members dedicating their time, talent, resources, and leadership to support Republican candidates at local, state, and national levels.
About Collin County Young Republicans
The Collin County Young Republicans, also referred to as "CCYR", represent a diverse group of young professionals and students, ages 18 to 40 years old, who share a passion for Republican principles and conservative values and live in the northern Dallas suburbs.
Local GOP organizations prove their passion allowing elected officials and candidates to briefly introduce themselves to help them gain exposure to voters.
Sometimes these events feature a keynote guest or speaker to draw a bigger crowd. For instance, the Plano Republican Women and Collin County Young Republicans recently hosted James Parker of the James Parker Show on WBAP 820 AM.

I appreciated that the event organizers encouraged attendees to announce upcoming events, fostering continued engagement within the community. The venue was excellent, offering a private space with ample room for mingling, and I particularly liked that they chose a local restaurant over a chain.
The Plano Republican Women and Collin County Young Republicans showcased their strong motivation by rapidly posting photos of attendees on social media. This prompt sharing is highly effective, as it allows guests to quickly relive the event and boosts online engagement while their excitement is still high.
Another commendable aspect of these political gatherings is the welcoming atmosphere. These events are open to everyone, including men and individuals who aren't "Young Republicans," which is a significant plus. Although this was a margarita social, non-drinkers were also welcome. As I don’t drink, I felt comfortable just networking without alcohol.
When people of all ages engage at political events, it helps local organizations grow their support and membership. It also creates valuable opportunities for legislators and candidates to connect with potential donors and volunteers for their campaigns. The Plano Republican Women and Collin County Young Republicans truly orchestrated a successful margarita social with a large turnout.
